Human alanyl-tRNA synthetase (AARS)는 class II tRNA synthetase 계열에 속하며, 진화 초기에 형성되어 높은 보존성을 보입니다. Human AARS는 968개의 아미노산으로 구성된 폴리펩타이드이며, E. coli 단백질과 41%의 서열 동일성을 가집니다.
tRNA synthetase는 RNA 코드를 해석하고 특정 아미노산을 해당 tRNA에 결합시키는 효소로, 아미노산 수용체 TψC 헬릭스와 상호작용하는 촉매 도메인 및 tRNA 구조의 나머지 부분과 상호작용하는 도메인으로 구성됩니다.
