Target Information
CD53 is a tetraspanin family transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in the lymphoid-myeloid lineage. It forms complexes with other leukocyte surface proteins such as CD2, CD19, CD21, MHC II, VLA-4, and tetraspanins CD37, CD81, and CD82, modulating various signaling processes. CD53 contributes to tumor cell radioresistance and exhibits anti-apoptotic effects. In thymus, CD53 expression increases in response to positive selection signals during T cell development and is up-regulated in macrophages exposed to bacterial lipopolysaccharide, while neutrophil stimulation down-regulates CD53 expression.
