Target Information
This gene encodes the transcriptionally active subunit of the SIII (elongin) transcription elongation factor complex, which also includes elongins B and C. The complex enhances RNA polymerase II elongation by reducing transient pausing during transcription. Unlike elongin A, which is ubiquitously expressed, this protein is testis-specific, suggesting a role in spermatogenesis.
