This gene belongs to the insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) family and encodes a protein containing both an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. The protein binds IGF-I and IGF-II, circulating in plasma and prolonging their half-life while modulating receptor interactions.
