• For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) of the human T-lymphocyte lineage, expressed on nearly all peripheral blood T cells and some natural killer cells, but not on B lymphocytes.
Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating CD2’s role as or association with the erythrocyte receptor.
The CD2–CD58 interaction stabilizes adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells. Although the affinity of CD2 for CD58 is relatively low in solution, it is enhanced in cell-cell interfaces to ensure strong adhesion.
T-cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, facilitating CD2–CD58 contact and stabilizing adhesion sites.
CD2 deficiency can reduce intestinal inflammation and modulate infection control.
Diseases associated with CD2 dysfunction include penile squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to thymus absence.
