F-box 단백질은 SKP1-cullin-F-box로 구성된 SCF 유비퀴틴 단백질 리가아제 복합체의 서브유닛 중 하나로, 인산화 의존적 유비퀴틴화 과정에서 기능합니다.
F-box 단백질은 WD-40 도메인을 포함하는 Fbws, leucine-rich 반복을 포함하는 Fbls, 그리고 다양한 단백질-단백질 상호작용 모듈 또는 인식 가능한 모티프가 없는 Fbxs로 분류됩니다.
FBXO21은 Fbxs 클래스에 속하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 2개의 전사체 변형을 생성합니다.
