Target Information
FDFT1 catalyzes the first step in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway, converting trans-farnesyldiphosphate to squalene.
Loss of promoter activity and sterol response for FDFT1 is localized to a 69-bp section positioned 131 bp upstream of the transcription start site.
This region contains a sterol regulatory element-1 (SRE1) and two putative NF1 binding sites, consistent with other sterol-regulated genes.
