Factor I, a serine protease, is a regulatory component of both the alternative and the classical complement pathway.
Factor I is synthesized as a single chain precursor of 88 kDa, processed to yield the active form, composed of two disulfide-linked chains:
- α-chain (50 kDa)
- β-chain (38 kDa)
Plasma concentration is approximately 35 µg/mL.
