Target Information
PITX2는 RIEG/PITX 홈박스 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, bicoid 클래스의 homeodomain 단백질입니다. 전사 인자로 작용하여 procollagen lysyl hydroxylase 유전자 발현을 조절하며, 성장호르몬 및 프로락틴 분비세포의 말기 분화에 관여합니다. 또한 눈, 치아, 복부 기관의 발달에 중요한 역할을 하며, 프로락틴의 기저 및 호르몬 조절 활성에도 관여합니다.
이 단백질의 돌연변이는 Axenfeld-Rieger 증후군, iridogoniodysgenesis 증후군 및 Peters anomaly의 산발적 사례와 관련되어 있습니다. 다른 척추동물에서는 발달 중 좌우 비대칭성 결정에도 관여합니다.
