Target Information
Cytokeratin 8 (KRT8) is a member of the type II keratin family located on chromosome 12. Type I and II keratins form intermediate filaments in epithelial cells. KRT8 typically pairs with keratin 18 to form filaments in simple epithelial cells. It contributes to structural integrity, signal transduction, and cellular differentiation. Mutations in KRT8 are associated with cryptogenic cirrhosis.
