Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the kinesin-like protein family. These microtubule-dependent molecular motors transport organelles within cells and move chromosomes during cell division. MKLP1 cross-bridges antiparallel microtubules and drives microtubule movement in vitro. Alternate splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
