KRT82는 keratin 유전자 패밀리의 구성원으로, type II hair keratin에 속하는 염기성 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 type I keratin과 이합체를 형성하여 모발과 손톱을 구성합니다. Type II hair keratin은 염색체 12q13 영역에 클러스터되어 있으며 구조적 유사성에 따라 두 개의 하위 그룹으로 나뉩니다.
