Target Information
ELAC2 encodes a protein with a C-terminal domain exhibiting tRNA 3′ processing endoribonuclease activity, catalyzing the removal of the 3′ trailer from precursor tRNAs. The protein interacts with activated Smad2 and its nuclear partner forkhead box H1 (FAST-1). Reduced expression can suppress TGF-β induced growth arrest. Mutations in ELAC2 are associated with increased risk of prostate cancer. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
