Target Information
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and are involved in mitochondrial protein synthesis. Mitoribosomes consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit, with a protein-to-rRNA ratio of approximately 75%. Unlike prokaryotic ribosomes, mammalian mitoribosomes lack 5S rRNA. The MRPL10 gene encodes a 39S subunit protein, and a pseudogene corresponding to this gene is located on chromosome 5q.
