Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, together containing 4 RNA species and around 80 distinct proteins.
This gene encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 40S subunit, belonging to the S12E family. It is located in the cytoplasm and is often upregulated in colorectal cancers compared to normal colonic mucosa.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
