C-말단 펩타이드는 땀에서 지속적으로 발현되며 항균 및 항진균 활성을 가집니다.
N-말단 펩타이드는 확산 생존 회피 펩타이드(diffusible survival evasion peptide)로 알려져 있으며, 심한 산화 스트레스 조건에서 신경세포 생존을 촉진합니다.
N-말단 펩타이드의 당화 형태는 암 환자에서 악액질(근육 소모)과 연관될 수 있습니다.
