Target Information
The HADHSC gene encodes a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of straight-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoAs as part of the beta-oxidation pathway. It shows highest activity with medium-chain-length fatty acids. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia. A related pseudogene is located on chromosome 15 in the human genome.
