Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry. TRP-PLIK acts both as an ion channel and a kinase, conducting calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and increase intracellular calcium. Its kinase activity is essential for channel function, dependent on intracellular ATP and affected by kinase mutations.
