The Ambion™ GLOBINclear™-Mouse/Rat Kit employs a novel, non-enzymatic technology that rapidly depletes >95% of alpha and beta globin mRNA from total RNA preparations derived from whole blood. The kit includes sufficient reagents for 20 reactions.

Whole blood total RNA samples often show reduced detection sensitivity due to the high abundance of globin mRNA, which can represent up to 70% of total mRNA mass. The GLOBINclear™ kit uses a hybridization-based depletion method combining:

• Biotin/streptavidin binding strength
• Nucleic acid hybridization specificity
• Magnetic separation convenience

This approach eliminates the need for RNase H treatment, preserving mRNA integrity and expression profiles. The resulting RNA provides improved performance in array analysis and quantitative RT-PCR, with increased Percent Present calls and reduced variability.
