Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and have isoelectric points between pH 4.9–7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is expressed in specific epithelial tissues and reflects both tissue type and differentiation state. Cytokeratin expression patterns are valuable markers for distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are useful tools in tumor differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometry assays.
