Target Information
CCR4-NOT Transcription Complex 2 (CNOT2) is a component of the CCR4-NOT complex, one of the major cellular mRNA deadenylases.
It is involved in multiple cellular processes including:
- Bulk mRNA degradation
- miRNA-mediated repression
- Translational repression during initiation
- General transcription regulation
CNOT2 is essential for the structural integrity of the CCR4-NOT complex and can repress transcription, possibly through the N-Cor repressor complex (HDAC3, NCOR1, NCOR2).
It also plays a role in maintaining embryonic stem (ES) cell identity.
