Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous human, mouse, and rat PON3 in Western blots.
It does not cross-react with recombinant human PON1 or PON2.
Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS before use.
Target Information
Paraoxonase-1 (PON1) is a calcium-dependent ester hydrolase associated with apoA-I in HDL and prevents LDL oxidation.
Polymorphisms in the human PON1 gene are linked to coronary artery disease.
PON2 is an intracellular protein protecting cells against oxidative damage.
PON3 shares similar activity with PON1 but differs in substrate specificity.
Both PON1 and PON3 are implicated in reducing the risk of coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis.
Human PON3 protein contains three conserved cysteine residues found in PON1, essential for in vivo activity.
PON1-based catalytic scavengers may provide protection against organophosphate intoxication.
