Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the CHD family of proteins, characterized by chromo domains and SNF2-related helicase/ATPase domains.
CHD3 is part of the Mi-2/NuRD histone deacetylase complex that remodels chromatin by deacetylating histones, a process essential for transcription and other cellular functions.
Autoantibodies against CHD3 are observed in some dermatomyositis patients.
Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
