EIF5AL1은 mRNA 결합 단백질로 번역 신장 과정에 관여하며, mRNA turnover 및 decapping 이후 단계에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 actin dynamics, 세포주기 진행, mRNA decay, 스트레스 반응 및 세포벽 유지 경로에 관여합니다. 세포자멸사 조절자로 작용하며, polyamine에 의한 신경 돌기 연장 및 생존에 영향을 미칩니다. 뇌 발달과 기능, 골격근 줄기세포 분화에도 중요한 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
