CAMSAP1는 비중심소성 미세소관의 마이너스 말단에 특이적으로 결합하여 그 동역학과 구조를 조절하는 주요 미세소관 조직 단백질입니다. 성장 중인 미세소관 마이너스 말단을 인식하고 안정화시키며, 미세소관 핵형성 단백질에 의해 캡핑되지 않은 자유 마이너스 말단을 탈중합으로부터 보호합니다. CAMSAP2 및 CAMSAP3와 달리, 마이너스 말단의 성장 팁을 따라 이동하면서 중합 속도에 큰 영향을 주지 않으며, 결합 후 튜불린이 결합되면 분리되는 마이너스 말단 추적 단백질(-TIP)로 작용합니다. 또한 스펙트린과의 상호작용을 통해 신경돌기 성장 조절에 관여할 수 있습니다.
