G protein-coupled receptor 39 (GPR39) is an orphan receptor in the Ghrelin family pathway. Studies indicate GPR39 plays roles in hypertension, adipogenesis, and that its overexpression contributes to malignant development of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
