Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs regulate various cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP includes:
- Extracellular region with eight fibronectin type III-like repeats
- Single transmembrane region
- Single intracytoplasmic catalytic domain
Expression is primarily in brain and liver, lower in heart and stomach, and detected in several cancer cell lines but not in corresponding normal tissues.
