Target Information
RAPGEF2 functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that activates Rap and Ras family small GTPases by exchanging bound GDP for GTP in a cAMP-dependent manner. It serves as a link between cell surface receptors and Rap/Ras GTPases in intracellular signaling cascades and acts as an effector for Rap1, amplifying Rap1-mediated signaling.
It may be involved in cAMP-induced Ras and Erk1/2 signaling pathways that regulate melanogenesis, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. RAPGEF2 also plays roles in neuron migration, axon outgrowth, and embryonic blood vessel formation, contributing to endothelial barrier function and cell junction integrity.
