Target Information

XPD is involved in the nucleotide excision repair pathway, a mechanism to repair DNA damage. The encoded protein participates in transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair and is a core component of the basal transcription factor BTF2/TFIIH complex. It exhibits ATP-dependent DNA helicase activity and belongs to the RAD3/XPD subfamily of helicases. Mutations in this gene are associated with xeroderma pigmentosum group D, trichothiodystrophy, and Cockayne syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
