Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins with high biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 distinct polypeptides. They range in molecular weight from approximately 40 kDa to 68 kDa and have isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8.
Different epithelial tissues express specific cytokeratin subtypes, which reflect both tissue type and differentiation status. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used in distinguishing epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable in tumor differential diagnosis using immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometry assays.
