Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). hnRNPs are nucleic acid-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). They are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing and mRNA metabolism and transport.
The hnRNP D protein has two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNAs and localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is involved in the regulation of mRNA stability. Alternative splicing results in four transcript variants.
