Target Information
Chromosome 21, the smallest human chromosome, constitutes about 1.5% of the human genome and contains approximately 300 genes across 47 million base pairs. It is associated with several conditions, including Down syndrome (trisomy 21), Alzheimer’s disease, Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Translocations involving chromosome 21 and chromosomes 8 or 12 have been observed in certain leukemias.
The C21orf88 gene product has been provisionally designated C21orf88 pending further characterization.
