Target Information
F-Box and WD Repeat Domain Containing 7 (FBXW7) is a member of the F-box protein family characterized by the approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. These proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin ligase complexes, which mediate phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
FBXW7, also known as FBX30, belongs to the Fbws class and contains seven tandem WD40 repeats. It binds directly to cyclin E and likely targets it for ubiquitin-mediated degradation.
Mutations in FBXW7 have been detected in ovarian and breast cancer cell lines, suggesting a role in cancer pathogenesis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms are known.
