Target Information
Translational regulator that ensures constant high levels of translation upon various stress conditions such as amino acid starvation, UV-C irradiation, proteasome inhibitor treatment, and glucose deprivation. Acts as a negative regulator of EIF2AK4/GCN2 kinase activity, impairing GCN1-mediated activation and subsequent eIF-2-alpha phosphorylation, thereby preventing down-regulation of protein synthesis. Plays a role in neuronal differentiation by stimulating neurite outgrowth through inhibition of EIF2AK4/GCN2.
