배경 (Background)
This gene encodes a highly conserved cold shock domain protein with broad nucleic acid binding properties.
It functions as both a DNA and RNA binding protein and is involved in transcription and translation regulation, pre-mRNA splicing, DNA repair, and mRNA packaging.
YB-1 is a component of messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complexes and may play a role in microRNA processing.
It can be secreted through non-classical pathways and acts as an extracellular mitogen.
Aberrant expression is associated with cancer proliferation and may serve as a prognostic marker for poor outcome and drug resistance.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes are found on multiple chromosomes. (RefSeq, Sep 2015)
