PHAX는 XPO1-매개 U snRNA의 핵 내 수출에 관여하는 인산화 단백질 어댑터입니다.
U snRNA 수출 복합체 형성과 수출에는 핵 내 인산화가 필요하며, 세포질에서의 탈인산화는 복합체 해체를 유도합니다.
핵-세포질 간 방향성은 Ran 단백질의 GTP/GDP 상태 분포에 의해 조절되며, PHAX의 인산화 주기도 이에 기여합니다.
또한 m7G-capped U1, U5 snRNA 및 U3 snoRNA 생합성에 관여하며, telomerase RNA와도 결합합니다.
