Background
이 유전자는 proto-oncogene c-kit의 인간 상동체를 인코딩합니다. c-Kit은 feline sarcoma viral oncogene v-kit의 세포 상동체로 처음 확인되었으며, MGF (mast cell growth factor, stem cell factor)의 type 3 transmembrane receptor입니다. 이 유전자 변이는 위장관 기질종양(GIST), 비만세포질환, 급성골수성백혈병(AML), piebaldism 등과 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 전사 변이체가 존재하여 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
