Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
Phosphorylation of c-Fos occurs at multiple sites in response to stimuli such as growth factors and insulin. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates Threonine 232, influencing nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of c-Fos.
