Invitrogen™ CyQUANT™ Direct Red Cell Proliferation Assay

The CyQUANT Direct Red Cell Proliferation Assay is a simple, no-wash, add-and-read fluorescent microplate assay used to assess cell growth, viability, or compound toxicity.
It consists of a cell-permeant DNA-binding red fluorescent probe and a cell-impermeant background suppressor. The probe stains all cells, while the suppressor enters only dead or membrane-compromised cells, suppressing fluorescence in those areas—thus detecting only healthy cells.

The CyQUANT Direct assay is a red fluorescence-based proliferation and cytotoxicity assay for microplate readers.
It provides a linear detection range from fewer than 100 to 20,000 cells per well for most cell types.
The assay can be completed in one hour using a no-wash, add-mix-read workflow.
Red excitation/emission wavelengths make it ideal for multiplexing with green fluorescent dyes or proteins.
The fluorescent signal remains stable for several hours, enhancing workflow flexibility.

Because cellular DNA content is tightly regulated, DNA-based detection methods are highly accurate.
The CyQUANT Direct Red Cell Proliferation Assay uses a red fluorescent cell-permeant DNA-binding probe and a background suppressor dye.
After mixing and adding to cells, incubation for one hour allows fluorescence measurement—only healthy cells are detected due to suppression in dead or damaged cells.
This enables sensitive measurement of both proliferation and cytotoxicity.
