Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is essential for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangement often creates a fusion gene combining ALK (chromosome 2) and NPM (chromosome 5), forming the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein. ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, sharing high sequence similarity with LTK. It plays a key role in neuronal development and function in the nervous system.
