Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These amiloride-sensitive sodium channels contain intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop with conserved cysteine spacing. The encoded protein may play a role in neurotransmission and can form heteromeric proton-gated channels with ACCN3 (variant 1), which are sensitive to gadolinium.
