MYLK (MLCK)는 세린/트레오닌 키나아제로서, 미오신 조절 경쇄를 인산화하여 미오신-액틴 상호작용을 통한 수축 활동을 유도합니다. MLCK는 평활근 수축, 혈관 투과성 조절, 조직 부종 형성에 핵심적인 역할을 하며, 신경계에서는 성상세포 돌기 성장 개시 및 시냅스 신경전달 조절에 관여합니다. 또한 섬유아세포의 세포사멸 관련 신호전달에도 참여합니다. 평활근 및 비평활근 아이소자임은 다양한 성체 및 태아 조직에서 발현되며, 비평활근 isoform 2가 주요 splice variant로 알려져 있습니다. Telokin isoform은 칼모듈린과 결합하며 다양한 조직에서 발견됩니다. MLCK는 인산화에 의해 하향 조절될 가능성이 있습니다. 단백질은 1개의 fibronectin type III 도메인과 9개의 immunoglobulin-like C2-type 도메인을 포함합니다.
