This antibody has specificity for HIV-1 gp120.
Target Information
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) entry into target cells is mediated by envelope (Env) glycoproteins, which exist as trimers of gp120/gp41 complexes on virions or infected cells.
The surface subunit gp120 initiates viral entry by binding sequentially to the CD4 receptor and a co-receptor (CCR5 or CXCR4), inducing conformational changes that enable gp41 to mediate membrane fusion.
Cleavage of Env into gp120 and gp41 is essential for activation of its fusogenic function.
