Target Information

CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) required for the stability of the bipolar mitotic spindle. The CPC, which includes Survivin, CDCA8, INCENP, and Aurora-B, plays crucial roles during mitosis and cell division. CDCA8 interacts with Aurora-B, INCENP, and Survivin, showing increased expression during the G2/M phase and reduction after mitotic exit. It is cell cycle regulated, down-regulated by p53/Rb signaling, and up-regulated in various cancers. Inactivation of CDCA8 in Drosophila leads to polyploidy, delayed mitosis, and abnormal tissue development, highlighting its role in cell proliferation. Aberrant expression of CDCA8 is associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
