Target Information
CASC5 performs crucial functions during mitosis, being essential for spindle-assembly checkpoint signaling and proper chromosome alignment. It facilitates kinetochore attachment to spindle microtubules and directly links BUB1 and BUB1B to kinetochores. As part of the MIS12 complex, it is fundamental for kinetochore formation and chromosome segregation. CASC5 works in coordination with CENPK to recruit the NDC80 complex to the outer kinetochore.
