Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a human herpesvirus associated with conditions such as Hodgkin’s disease and Burkitt’s lymphoma and is the causative agent of mononucleosis in adolescents. EBV latently infects B lymphocytes, expressing nuclear antigens and latent proteins LMP1, LMP2A, and LMP2B.
LMP2A forms aggregates in plasma membranes of B lymphocytes, functioning as a negative regulator of Src and Syk protein tyrosine kinases. Studies show that LMP2A blocks B-cell receptor (BCR) signal transduction in EBV-immortalized B cells in vitro and may help maintain latent EBV infection within peripheral blood B cells.
EBNA-1 is the only viral protein consistently expressed in all malignancies associated with EBV.
