Target Information
VPRBP acts as both a substrate recognition component of E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes and as an atypical serine/threonine-protein kinase. It plays roles in cell cycle regulation, telomerase regulation, and histone modification.
Functions as a substrate-specific adapter of the CUL4A-RBX1-DDB1-DCAF1/VPRBP complex, mediating ubiquitination and degradation of proteins such as NF2.
Involved in turnover of methylated proteins, recognizing and binding methylated proteins via its chromo domain.
Participates in B-cell development by limiting error-prone repair during V(D)J recombination.
Also part of the EDVP complex, mediating ubiquitination of proteins such as TERT, leading to telomerase inhibition.
Acts as an atypical serine/threonine-protein kinase that phosphorylates Thr-120 of histone H2A (H2AT120ph), repressing transcription and down-regulating tumor suppressor genes.
Involved in JNK-mediated apoptosis during cell competition via interaction with LLGL1 and LLGL2.
During HIV-1 infection, recruited by Vpr to hijack the CUL4A-RBX1-DDB1-DCAF1/VPRBP complex, leading to G2 phase arrest and protection of viral proteins.
