Target Information
This gene encodes a subunit of the elongation factor-1 complex, responsible for enzymatic delivery of aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome. The subunit functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor and has been reported to interact with HIV-1 Tat, repressing translation of host-cell but not HIV-1 mRNAs. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
