Target Information
This gene encodes a protein whose expression increases in cultured cells at high density but not during growth arrest. It is also upregulated in cells overexpressing the HER-2/neu proto-oncogene. The protein contains an SUI1 domain, which in yeast functions as a translation initiation factor guiding ribosomes to the correct start site. Homologous proteins are found in mammals, insects, and plants.
