Target Information
Transforming acidic coiled-coil (TACC) proteins are a conserved family of centrosome- and microtubule-interacting proteins implicated in cancer. The TACC2 gene encodes a protein that concentrates at centrosomes throughout the cell cycle and is located within a chromosomal region associated with tumorigenesis. Expression of this gene is induced by erythropoietin and may influence breast tumor progression. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
